Our team travels this year to the west coast of America to cover the beach kissed CRSSD festival. Set at the idyllic Waterfront Park in downtown San Diego, this edition boasts an extremely eclectic range of musical acts with the festival promising to build on its reputation and ride on San Diego’s growing underground wave. With such a rich line up, it’s always challenging catching some of the lesser known artists. Here is our pick of some artists you should definitely check out –

  1. Midland

House, dub step, garage, disco or techno, you name it. Midland has very little regard for genres. His DJ sets are a complete unpredictable journey rich in bass and groove. The super talented Leeds lad credits Moderat for his shift to the 4/4 sound, for which he has garnered the respect of big names worldwide.  His extended set on City steps stage promises to be a treat, filled with more hypnotic grooves like his gem ‘Realtime’.

  1. Horse Meat Disco

U.K.’s finest disco operators come to San Diego to light up the Birdhouse stage on Sunday with more than a decade of playing together. Having  started in 2003, these four together have proven to be a force to be reckoned with and their parties soon became the talk of the town attracting a discerning mix of old time disco heads, club kids, bears, naturists and everyone else.  Having rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest names, their disco infused set will offer the perfect Sunday Funday feeling.

  1. Elderbrook

Tender vocals with the right amount of bounce and funk. Alexander Kotz has been pushing the electronica dance boundaries with his soulful voice and gaining immense recognition for his ability to produce fresh groovy sounds. You would probably recollect Andhim remixing his track ‘ How Many Times’. His new single ‘First Time’ (link below) would set the perfect early afternoon setting by the beach.

  1. Peggy Gou

South Korea born, London/Berlin shaped- Peggy is breaking ground in the female electronic movement. Her 2016 EP is a perfect display of her talent with a mixture of house and acid sounds along with her own vocals. Her sound has the perfect balance of house and boogie to get you moving. Her early set on the city steps stage would definitely be one worth coming early for.
